Lisbon Cathedral
13 May 2000
Lisbon's cathedral, or Sé, was constructed in 1147 for "purification" after the Moors were forced out of Lisbon by the returning Christians and was most likely built on the site of a mosque. While its exterior and main interior (first two pictures above) are clearly Romanesque, later additions such as the ambulatory and its chapels (last two pictures above) were constructed in Gothic style.
