By the time we got through the airport and got checked into the hotel, it was 4 in the afternoon. We left the hotel soon after, since we only had that evening in Rome. We returned at about 11, and since the air conditioning in the hotel was only functional from 5-10, we missed it. So how much can you see in Rome in about 6 hours? On foot? Well, the pictures above should tell you the answer to that. St. Peter's Cathedral (the outside of it at least, covered in scaffolding), the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, lots of assorted monuments and buildings, and the Planet Hollywood (not shown). Some other people saw the Pope, but they cheated and took the bus around the city. We also found what has to be one of the best gelaterias in all of Italy, Giolitti. We also stopped at a McDonald's for a snack (the only American fast food we had on the trip). At the end we got a cab back to the hotel. We were glad that we only had one night in the hotel, because it was the worst we had been in (we were lucky that we didn't bother going back for dinner).

On June 4 we went back to the airport, had a very nice lunch there, and then it was time to head back to the US. The movie was Message in a Bottle, which I did my best to ignore. We finally arrived at JFK, picked up our luggage, and six of us went back to Orange County. For some reason they sent us a smaller limo, so even though we had one less person, we had more luggage and it was a bit cramped inside. We eventually made it back, and the trip came to an end.
